The Annual BOS Benefit is getting an upgrade in 2014. One of Bushwick’s most impressive venues, the recently opened Storefront Ten Eyck, will be hosting the event. Featuring works by over eighty local artists including Deborah Brown, Peter Fox, Jeanne Tremel, Reed Anderson, Rob de Oude, Brian Novatny, Lori Kirkbride, Nao Matsumoto, Louis Cameron, Marilyn Gold, and Paul Baumann, amongst many others. The benefit serves as a unique opportunity to preview and to take home fresh works by New York’s most up-and-coming artist community, at an incredibly low price that can’t be found elsewhere.This year to make the wall more interesting we invited Kimia Shahi as our Montage Curator Guest. Kimia is an independent curator and she will install the show for us, making the benefit’s art gallery a whole new experience.Performer, artist, comedian and self-proclaimed psychotherapist Lisa Levy will be the MC, entertaining the audience throughout the night as MC. Each year, a limited edition, signed print is offered at a discounted rate, and in 2014, acclaimed painter Lisa Corinne Daviswill be the featured print artist. We will also have limited edition, signed prints available by local artists Meg Hitchcock and Alice Mizrachi.The benefit committee consists of six active Bushwick artists: Sessa Englund (independent curator, AIB panel discussion organizer, artist), Jessica Hargreaves (artist), Jen Hitchings (co-director of Associated, manager at Pierogi, painter), Taylor Langone (independent curator), Christopher Stout (founder of Bushwick Crit Group, artist), Cibele Vieira (artist). Collectively, the committee aims to make the 2014 benefit a monumental event representative of the visual community that has turned Bushwick into a globally-recognized hotbed of creativity and originality.
